Columbia Venture Partners
About
Columbia Venture Partners (CVP) is Columbia University's first and leading venture capital initiative for the undergraduate student body. CVP aims to bring hands-on learning opportunities from the broader VC community to campus.
Location: Manhattan, New York
Industry: Education (Finance)
Delivery: Logo and Brand Identity
Problem
This project came from a need to bulk order merchandise for all of Columbia Venture Partner's members. CVP reached a consensus that before spending on merchandise, they wanted to redesign their logo. CVP members described their logo as: "stock", "generic", and "outdated".
Solution
We redesigned CVP's logo to make it belong in to the 2020's.
Scribe worked side-by-side with CVP to identify their merchandising and advertising needs. CVP can now promote and wear their brand proudly on the Columbia campus and throughout New York City.

Logo Ideation
Constant back and forth, ideation, and iteration were required to land on CVP's final logo. Over 60 sketches were created to land on one perfect concept. We kept the venture capital motif with a green leaf (representing growth) and gave the logo a more sleek and professional look.

Digital Presence
Because the CVP initiative reaches out to Columbia University alumni, innovators, VCs, and key voices around the New York City area, their branding and digital presence needed to exceed those of legacy Venture Capital funds.

Applicant Surplus
Columbia University is a poster-heavy campus. To recruit even more members, CVP circulates posters. To stand out on common-area bulletin boards, CVP posters are high in contrast, high in negative space, high in authenticity, and high in humor.

Merchandise
CVP can now strut down Wall Street or Columbia College Walk with their new performance quarter zips vest jackets. We also created stickers they can plaster on their water bottles, laptops, and campus to spread the word further.
